Throwback Traits sells gallery-ready poster sets and artist-grade canvas prints across motivational, nursery, Black girl, Danish pastel, unicorn, llama, gym and classroom themes, with complete six-print sets starting at $17.90. Our review read the catalogue page by page and worked through the refund policy fine print, so you know precisely what lands at your door.
📋 Quick Verdict
Throwback Traits is a small, tightly curated wall-art shop that sits between the poster bin at a big-box store and a custom framing studio. Instead of selling one-off prints, it sells coordinated sets: six motivational posters for $19.99, four gym prints for $19.99, six nursery prints sized 8×10″ for $17.99, or a six-piece framed canvas collection for $47.99. If your goal is to fill a wall this weekend without sourcing and matching pieces yourself, that packaging is the entire value proposition.
Our review found the canvas line is where the brand stops being cheap and starts being interesting. Artist-grade canvas prints run $79 for 16×24″, $99 for 20×30″ and $129 for 24×36″, and they ship rolled in a protective tube rather than folded. The themed poster sets are the volume sellers, and the catalogue targets niches big retailers ignore: Black girl posters, Danish pastel, llama and unicorn sets for kids, classroom decor, chalkboard-style farmhouse prints and gym motivation.
The caveats matter just as much. The catalogue is small: 19 product listings in the public feed when we checked. Posters arrive unframed, so frames are a separate cost. And the returns banner on every page promises “postage paid” returns while the refund policy text says the customer arranges and insures the shipment back.
Pros
- Complete 4-8 print sets from $17.90 to $49.99, so one order styles an entire wall
- Canvas prints are artist-grade and ship rolled in a protective tube, not folded
- Genuinely specific themes: Black girl, Danish pastel, llama, unicorn, classroom and gym
- Nursery sets use the standard 8×10″ size, which means cheap frames you can buy anywhere
- A 30-day return window is advertised across the site, and orders are fulfilled through Amazon with tracking
- A 3-5 business day US standard service and a 1-3 business day express option are both published in the shipping policy
- Bilingual English/Spanish storefront plus reseller and affiliate programmes for small shops
Cons
- Small catalogue: 19 listings in the public product feed when our review checked
- Posters ship unframed, and frames are not sold on the site, so budget for them separately
- Large canvases at $79-$129 compete with established print-on-demand studios that offer free framing options
- The returns banner claims postage-paid returns while the refund policy makes the customer pay for and insure the return shipment
- Warranty support after the first year requires photo or video proof and case-by-case screening
- Email-only support at [email protected], with no phone or live chat channel

🤔 What Is Throwback Traits?
Throwback Traits is an online wall-art brand trading from a Shopify storefront at throwbacktraits.com. Its catalogue has three parts: loose poster sets across themed collections, artist-grade canvas wall art in three large sizes, and a handful of items flagged as delivered by Amazon. Prices are quoted in US dollars, and the site offers an English or Spanish interface.
The brand story is unusually personal for a decor shop. The company’s own Our Story page describes a concept it calls the Throwback Person: someone who lives knowing where we come from, loving where we are, and purposely knowing where we are going. That framing explains why motivational and gym collections sit alongside nursery and classroom art, and why the catalogue is organised around the mood of a room rather than around art movements.
⚙️ Key Features
Artist-grade canvas wall art
The premium end of the catalogue is canvas, sold as single large prints in 16×24″, 20×30″ and 24×36″ sizes at $79, $99 and $129 respectively. Current designs lean toward boho and classic art: a Celestial Moon Botanical piece and a Famous Paintings canvas. The listings state the pieces use artist-grade canvas and ship rolled in a protective tube, which matters because rolled canvas can be stretched professionally later, whereas folded prints crease permanently.
Themed poster sets
This is where the brand makes most sense. The Motivational Wall Posters six-pack in 11×17″ is tagged as a bestseller at $19.99, with a large-format version at 17×24″ for $29.99 and a black-and-white variant at $18.99. Smaller collections include the Gym Motivational Posters four-pack at $19.99 and the Office Wall Art Poster Kit, eight mixed-size prints for $19.99. Buying six coordinated prints for the price of two custom-framed single posters is the core argument for shopping here.
Nursery and kids collections
The nursery range is sized to fit frames people already own. Baby Nursery Wall Art Posters is a six-piece set of 8×10″ prints for $17.99, and the Safari Nursery set uses the same six-print, 8×10″ recipe at $17.90, the lowest price we recorded anywhere in the catalogue. Adjacent collections cover unicorns, llamas and Danish pastel, which keeps bedside and playroom decor in the same visual language as the rest of the house.
Farmhouse, office and classroom lines
Chalkboard-style wall art covers the dark, typographic look that suits kitchens and farmhouse interiors, offered as a three-piece 11×17″ set for $39.99 and a two-piece 17×24″ set for $47.99. The Office Motivational set of eight 11×17″ prints at $49.99 targets small business and home-office buyers, while classroom and gym collections serve teachers, coaches and home-gym owners who rarely find a full set from a single seller.
Fulfilment, shipping and warranty
The shipping policy states that US orders are fulfilled through Amazon, with standard delivery in three to five business days or express in one to three. Orders are processed Monday to Friday, buyers receive a despatch email plus a separate tracking email from Amazon, and the policy asks customers to contact support if nothing arrives within ten days. The refund policy adds a tiered warranty: replacement or refund in year one on proof of failure, screening in year two, and an in-depth review from year three.
💰 Pricing & Plans
Throwback Traits prices by the set, not per print, which makes comparison shopping awkward but the maths transparent. The table below lists real figures taken from the store listings during our review. All prices are in US dollars and exclude any frame, which is not sold by the brand.
| Product line | Example listing | Listed price |
|---|---|---|
| Nursery poster set of 6 (8×10") | Baby Nursery Wall Art Posters | $17.99 |
| Motivational poster set of 6 (11×17") | Motivational Wall Posters | $19.99 |
| Gym poster set of 4 (11×17") | Gym Motivational Posters | $19.99 |
| Large motivational set of 6 (17×24") | Large Motivational Wall Art Posters | $29.99 |
| Chalkboard style set of 3 (11×17") | Chalkboard Style Wall Art | $39.99 |
| Framed canvas set of 6 (black and white) | Motivational Canvas Wall Art | $47.99 |
| Canvas print 16×24″ | Boho Abstract Celestial Moon Botanical | $79.00 |
| Canvas print 24×36″ | Famous Paintings Canvas Wall Art | $129.00 |
Read as value rather than sticker price, the sweet spot is the $17.90-$29.99 band: six to eight prints for less than one framed print costs at a framing shop. The canvas line is a different decision. At $99-$129 for a single 20×30″ or 24×36″ piece you are paying for scale and material, so check the listing images closely before committing.
⚔️ Throwback Traits vs. Competitors
Rather than quote rival prices that change weekly, this table compares how each type of seller is structured, which is what actually determines the experience. Verified prices are given only for Throwback Traits; treat the competitor columns as a description of the channel, and check live pricing before you buy.
| Dimension | Throwback Traits | Amazon multi-pack sellers | Etsy digital downloads | Print-on-demand studios |

| Delivery | Amazon-fulfilled, 3-5 business days US standard | Prime speed on eligible items | Instant download | Varies, often international |

| Best for | Styling a whole wall from one order | Same-day convenience | Custom sizes and worldwide access | Gallery-style singles |
Our evaluation: if you want a specific look finished quickly, the set-based model wins. If you need a single piece in a custom size, a print-on-demand studio or local printer will serve you better. Throwback Traits is not trying to be the cheapest per print, it removes the matching and sourcing work, and on that measure the $17.90-$29.99 sets are competitive.
🎯 Who Should Use Throwback Traits?
- Renters and first-apartment decorators who need a full wall of art quickly and may move the pieces again next year.
- Parents setting up a nursery or kids room where six matching 8×10" prints for $17.99 beat hunting down individual designs.
- Teachers and classroom organisers filling notice boards and reading corners on a school budget.
- Home gym owners and coaches who want a coordinated motivational set rather than a random assortment of prints.
- Small offices using the eight-print office kit at $49.99 to make a workspace look intentional without a designer.
- Gift buyers shopping for housewarmings, students or new-home gifts where a themed set is an easy win.
🚫 Who Should Skip It
- Anyone who wants framed art delivered ready to hang. Frames are not part of the offer, so factor that cost and effort in.
- Collectors of original or limited-edition work. This is printed decor, not fine art with provenance.
- Shoppers who want a huge catalogue. Nineteen listings is deliberate curation, but it is also a hard ceiling on choice.
- Buyers outside the documented delivery flows. The shipping policy is written around US customers, so confirm your destination before ordering.
- People who want phone or chat support. Support runs through [email protected], and return shipping is the buyer’s responsibility.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
How long does Throwback Traits take to deliver?
The shipping policy lists a 3-5 business day standard service and a 1-3 business day express option for US customers, fulfilled through Amazon. Orders are processed Monday to Friday, and the policy advises contacting support if nothing arrives within ten days.
Do the posters arrive framed?
No. Poster sets are sold unframed, and the site does not sell frames. Nursery sets use the standard 8×10" size and motivational sets use 11×17" or 17×24", all of which are widely available frame sizes at retailers.
What exactly is the return policy?
The refund policy allows returns within 30 days in original condition with proof of purchase, requested by email at [email protected], with refunds issued in 5-10 days. The customer is responsible for the return shipment and its insurance, even though the site banner advertises postage-paid returns.
Is there a warranty after the return window closes?
Yes, and it is tiered. In the first year the brand replaces the item or refunds it on proof of failure. In the second year a claim goes through a screening process, and from the third year it requires an in-depth review, with a 20% discount on a future order as a fallback.
Which themes does Throwback Traits cover?
Motivational, gym, office, classroom, nursery, Black girl, Danish pastel, unicorn and llama collections, plus boho and famous-paintings canvas. The catalogue is organised by the room and mood rather than by artist.
Is Throwback Traits worth it compared with buying posters locally?
For coordinated sets, usually yes. Six to eight matching prints for $17.90-$49.99 is hard to assemble locally without doubling the cost in time and mismatched styles. For a single print in a specific size, a print-on-demand studio is often the better route.
🏁 Final Verdict
Throwback Traits is a well-executed specialist rather than a general store, and our review found the set-based model does most of the work. If your problem is an empty wall and a limited weekend, the $17.90 nursery sets, the $19.99 six-print motivational pack and the $19.99 gym four-pack solve it for less than the cost of one custom-framed print, and the canvas range gives you a credible upgrade path at $79 to $129 when you want scale.
The trade-offs are equally clear. Nineteen listings is a narrow catalogue, nothing arrives framed, and the mismatch between the postage-paid returns banner and the refund policy text is the kind of detail that decides whether a return is pleasant or annoying. Buy with that in mind, treat the canvas line as a considered purchase, and the value in the sets holds up.
