How We Test
Last reviewed: 13 October 2026
travelhacksguide.com reviews software, apps and services that people pay for. Here is exactly how a review gets written, so you can judge how much to trust it.
What we do for every review
- We use the product itself where a trial or free plan exists. When we can’t (no trial, or a service that requires a paid contract), we say so in the review and work from the vendor’s published data instead.
- We re-check prices at the source and date them. Every review page carries a dated box showing the plans and prices we confirmed on the vendor’s own page, with the URL and the date we checked it.
- We read the boring parts. Cancellation terms, refund windows, extra fees, usage limits and what stops working when a trial ends.
- We compare against real alternatives at the same price point, using the same criteria, so a “best” verdict means “best of the ones compared”, not “best on the internet”.
- We write down what would change our mind. The weak points are in the review, not only in the summary.
How we make money
Some links on this site are affiliate links: if you buy through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That is how the site is funded. It does not buy a better score — several reviews here tell readers to use a free plan or a cheaper competitor.
What we don’t do
- We don’t publish a review of a product we could not open, use or verify.
- We don’t invent test results, screenshots or numbers. If a fact comes from the vendor, it is labelled as theirs.
- We don’t hide prices behind a click. If the vendor doesn’t publish them, we say the pricing is quote-based.
Found something wrong?
Prices change, apps get redesigned, trials get cancelled. If something on a page is out of date, write to us and it will be corrected with a new check date — the correction matters more to us than the page looking clean.
